・Talent Has Hunger
I’ve been fortunate to work with Mark Juergens on two feature documentaries, which means I’ve spent almost two years in a room with him; so it's fortunate for me that he is passionate, thoughtful, reliable and a terrific human being; in addition to the fact that he is a first class editor with superb taste and technical skills in abundance. I recommend him heartily.

・Cruel and Unusual
Mark took on our film which was very hard to structure, as we had a lot of detailed information to communicate as well as dramatic personal stories to tell, and shaped it into an award-winning film that secured a 3-year broadcast contract.

・Civil War (or, Who Do We Think We Are)
I was so lucky to meet Mark and to have the chance to work with him. Mark has a unique mind and approach: he is open to many ways of seeing the world and, as a result, he consistently embraces the new. Mark’s insatiable intellectual curiosity coupled with his enthusiasm and fantastic collaborative spirit definitively make him one of the best editors in the business. And now, after working very intensely on a very challenging project together, I consider him a good friend. (How often does that happen?)

・Pen Pals
Mark edited an Indie feature I produced in NY with a first-time director and what immediately impressed me was Mark’s ability to cut a scene from very limited coverage and to do it in a way that emphasized the emotional depth of the moment, thus elevating the audience’s connection to the story. Based on this first feature experience with Mark, we asked him to edit another feature film and he once again wove the narrative together in a way that lifted the story! And during all the pressures of low budget post production, Mark was a beacon of light and kindness!

Mark is a brilliant, thoughtful and creative editor, who we recommend without reservation. He's worked with us on several feature length documentaries, and has been a true collaborator. A few of his strengths: insightful story telling with complex documentary material, the ability to work closely and imaginatively with the composer, a willingness to take responsibility for making a film as good as it can be.

・Cracked Up
Mark Juergens is one of my favorite editors and favorite people. He is a brilliant editor. He was recommended to me when I was working on my film Cracked Up and I was facing real story and structural challenges. Mark helped me solve every single challenge very quickly and helped me realize the movie that lived in my head, heart and soul. He is extremely focused with a great work ethic He is a deep listener and great communicator. I love talking story with him and figuring it out with him. Mark is kind, strong, and generous with his creative ideas while always serving the vision of the director. I felt safe expressing all my thoughts and ideas with him as well as trusted that he heard what I wanted and would work hard to fulfill my vision. He edits with an extraordinary and intuitive sense of timing and balance and is a great music editor. In Cracked Up, The Darrell Hammond Story, Mark helped me create the perfect balance between tragedy and comedy. Cracked Up has been trending on Netflix as one of the most popular films as well as a film that is saving lives, literally. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Mark Juergens for helping me make this important, impactful and entertaining film. Mark is simply the best!

・Golf Alpha Yankee
I hired Mark as the lead editor on my feature documentary, Golf Alpha Yankee. Mark is a brilliant storyteller- and beyond that, an excavator and sculptor of narrative. Among a million shards of story glass on the floor, he identifies the pieces that fit together and then finds just the right kinds of narrative glue to sculpt them into something beautiful. He’s also an extremely attuned, empathic communicator. He quickly understood my vision for the film, and, it seems in hindsight, knew just the right ways to bring up ideas that differed from it and meld his creativity with mine, which ultimately made the relationship collaborative and thanks to that, the film evolved from one vision to a stronger reality. And finally, when the deadlines are encroaching and the team goes into stress-panic mode, Mark’s is the same calming force he has been all along. Mark is at the top of the field as a creative and technician, and at the same time, the epitome of down-to-earth interpersonally. The only warning I give is, after having Mark as your editor, you may find it difficult to work with anyone else in the future.

・Sunken Roads: Three Generations After D-Day
Mark edited my first feature-length doc, and I hope he’ll edit all my future films too! I couldn’t be happier with how the process went, or with how the finished film turned out. Mark approached the footage with a sensitive and shrewd eye. Continually patient and respectful, he listened to my hopes for the film and was happy to watch other movies I love to understand the kind of voice I wanted to capture. He was attentive and discerning during test screenings, with a great instinct for which critiques to take seriously and how to address them. Mark worked like a paleontologist, carefully probing and digging and lifting away material until, together, we recognized the film’s shape, characters, and emotional core. Regardless of what your project is about or how long you’ve been working on it, I have complete confidence that Mark will be able to help your film become the best possible version of itself.

Mark was a pleasure to work with at NBC Uni. We were very limited in the footage available for the production we were working on, but he was able to build compelling and dramatic scenes with both sound and visuals. He's definitely one of my first "go to" editors.

・Kazoo
Mark was excellent to work with. He always had dead-on advice and became one of the most important opinions I sought as director during post production. As the sound editor of the film he was generous with his time and made a so-so film sound great, enhancing the entire film and helping us to get distribution and win many awards!
